0. Introduction…

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

When the disciples were choosing a new disciple to replace Judas Iscariot they cast lots – a worldly practice used to determine God’s will. In a similar vein, I used a Facebook game to discover the word God had for me for this next year and “love” came up.

But when I started to explore the occurrences of the word in the Bible, I discovered that there were 755! So, what was to be just the one journal turned into three: God is Love; Love lived Loud; and Love’s Attributes.

In this journal exploring the word “love”, we find out more about the desirable characteristics of love in us. Paul’s first letter to the worshippers at the Corinthian church sums it up beautifully and we will take a look at the attributes he encourages them to demonstrate as well as a few others I discovered…

As always, I encourage you to take time to pray the prayer at the end of each reflection, implement the action, and do some journaling as you ponder.

Enjoy
